There are defined times when you can purchase health insurance. You no longer have to be concerned about pre-existing conditions disqualifying you for coverage. However, YOU MUST enroll during open enrollment (the next one is 11/01/2023 to 12/31/2024) or when you have a qualifying special enrollment event. If you do not, you will not be able to purchase coverage at all. While this has been the law for over 4 years, it is still catching people by surprise.
