Part D Drug Plan Basics
Medicare Part D is a prescription drug plan offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare. It helps cover the cost of prescription medications, which are not included in Original Medicare (Parts A & B).
You can get Part D as a standalone plan to go with Original Medicare ,or in a Medicare Advantage plan that includes drug coverage. Each plan has its own list of covered drugs (called a formulary), and costs like premiums, copays, and deductibles can vary. Enrolling in a Part D plan helps protect you from high out-of-pocket medication costs and possible penalties for late enrollment. We help our clients determine the best plan for them, and help with enrollment.
If a plan that we don't work with seems best for you, we will provide you with their contact information so you can enroll in that plan. In 2025 we work with 10 different Medicare Drug Plan carriers covering 26 different drug plans.
